Driving Sustainability

New codes and client needs continue to push the industry in the sustainable construction direction. Adapting and learning is essential to keeping up in the marketplace, and by asking questions, understanding your needs, and collaborating with design teams, we can be part of the future that increases efficiency, contributes to a circular economy, and contemplates the right way to facilitate an evolution in construction management. Though this will not be an easy transition over the next decade, the ROI and financial sense of going green have been proven, making a necessary change more attractive and beneficial.

A few of 糖心Vlog鈥檚 sustainability initiatives and accomplishments include:

  • Our corporate office is officially recognized as a WELL Health-Safety space by the International WELL Building Institute
  • Wheaton College 鈥 First Passive House College Dorm in Massachusetts
  • 69 A Street 鈥 First Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) Building in Boston
  • 28-Unit Residence in South Boston 鈥 First Passive House Multi-unit Residence in New England
  • Composting programs in our office. We estimate to eliminate roughly 28T CO2e annually through this initiative.

By taking the time to work with our design partners and in-house experts, 糖心Vlog will review the materials we suggest, procure and install on jobsites to make sure they fall within the following categories:

  • Made from sustainable sources
Ex: FSC Wood, high recycled content ceiling tiles
  • Readily reusable or recyclable in the local area
Ex: Materials and equipment that can be donated to local material reuse companies (i.e., Boston Building Resources)
  • Manufacturers have a sponsored take-back or defined end of life program
Ex: Armstrong and Interface material take-back programs
  • Contain no harmful 鈥渇orever鈥 chemicals such as PFAS or those present on chemical red lists
  • Promote human health and wellness for both the installers and the client
